Kristina Kilian was born in 1990 in southern Germany. She studied scenography and exhibition design at the University of Arts and Design in Karlsruhe. There she first encountered sound art through the Media Art department and took a seminar on film sound, which deepened her interest in cinema. She then completed a one-year guest study in fine arts in Douglas Gordon’s film class at the Städelschule in Frankfurt. From 2013 to 2024, she studied documentary film directing at the University of Television and Film Munich (HFF München). During this time, she gained hands-on experience as a sound recordist on numerous documentary and narrative films. Since 2024, she lives in Berlin, working as a freelance sound assistant and production sound mixer.
